This species is extremely unusual looking and can make an interesting addition to anyone's collection. Despite their name they are actually a species of arachnid. They have a flat body with long legs and have two long feelers which are used to help find their way in the dark. They also have two pincer like arms that are used for catching food.

Origin originate from Kenya and Tanzania where they can be found living in caves, under logs and in rock crevices.

Behaviour These animals are nocturnal, wander around in darkness and feel their surroundings using their first pair of legs, which have evolved into highly sensitive "whips".

Community They may be kept in groups of females and one male.

Decor A set up for this species should use coco fiber or peat substrate at least 2" and include rocks or bark for hides. You should mist the enclosure daily for moisture and humidity.

Diet Whip scorpions will eat appropriately sized crickets or locusts

Day Temperature 24-26C

Night Temperature a night time drop to 20-24 will be fine

Humidity around 80% for adults but slightly higher for newly hatched or juveniles.

Life span Females of this species can live as long as 20 years with males only living between 5-10 years at most. Although their lifespan has not been proven to be factual
